When Rob Bony was a Renown Health patient, he thought the care was wonderful, but he missed his dog, Roscoe, a 10-year-old Golden Retriever. His partner would bring Roscoe to Renown, so Bony could go outside and see him, which really helped him get through his illness. Then pet therapy dogs came to his room. That's when Bony decided to get involved in the volunteer program as a way to give back to the community. "Our sole purpose in doing this is to get smiles," says Pet Therapy Volunteer Rob Bony. Bony and Roscoe spend Saturday mornings visiting mostly children at Renown Children's Hospital. "Roscoe absolutely loves it because he's a ham. And Roscoe is a people-pleaser, so he loves to be petted and will lean against people and let them scratch behind the ears and hug all over him," says Bony.
